Today has been a slower paced today, which was just what was needed after the weekend. We went to the YouMe town mall and walked around and shopped a bit. I bought a small bag for like 5 bucks that fits my camera, passport/rail pass/ denjisho (electronic dictionary) / keitei (cell phone) perfectly.I was also excited as it was the first time I have been in Japan (minus ordering the shinkansen tickets) where I didn’t have someone to fall back on for Japanese language ability. Granted, I didn’t use it, except for ordering lunch, but, I did it successfully, so that’s all good.Speaking Japanese is still one of those things where I fall back into English mode, even though I how to say what I need to say in Japanese, but I guess it is because I can’t express the exact thought that is in my head in English in Japanese is why I fall back into it.My lunch today. It was soo good. I cracked an egg on top of it after taking the photo and mixed it all up.An interesting note about the food courts in Japan versus those in the States. In the states, you order your food, and wait for it at the counter and get it on a tray. After you eat, you throw it all away and that’s the end of that. In Japan, at least at this particular food court, you were given a little remote after you ordered your food. It had the store’s logo on it, and when you food was ready it would start beeping super loud. After you ate, you would bring back your tray / dishes (minus the paper cup) to the place. Of course, by looking at the photo above, you can tell why you brought it back. It would be mighty wasteful and expensive to throw those nice cast iron bowls away. While at the mall we went into this shop called the Vintage Vanguard. It was full of a lot of stuff I could get in America at Spencer’s gifts or what not. However, in the back was this whole section that had a bunch of different things. Books about sex, various things that were shaped like breasts etc. It was pretty amusing. This photo however, was picked because a while back my friend Amber made a post in her blog with the particular item in it. I think she found it online somewhere, and I just wanted to let her know that, I found it. On my first day cruising the streets by myself noless.Today’s video is of some music that we saw at the 一番街 (ichiban gai) mall. The second part of the video is of this guy playing the guitar on the street. He was pretty good. I didn’t ask his name, but he was 22 years old, and liked Queen a lot. I gave him a cigarette, and when we got in the Taxi to go home, he ran after the Taxi and gave us a cd. I haven’t listened to it yet, as my cdrom has decided to stop working. I will have to check it out when I get back to the states, see if I can’t fix it.Those that came here from bicycle-sidewalk looking for the video of Nathan singing, welcome! The video of Nathan singing is in the previous video, but this one rocks too. So watch both! It’s time I get to bed, as I’ve got a shinkansen to Tokyo to catch tomorrow.
