When I had decided that Yumi and I were going to spend our last weekend together in America (before she goes back to Japan) in Fredericksburg, I wasn’t sure what was there – besides enchanted rock. Upon doing a little research, I discovered that there was the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg. The Museum was spectacular. I would highly recommend it to anybody in the area, especially because it isn’t that far away from Austin and San Antonio. I have discovered that going to Museums when you have a solid background in whatever the museum is about – it makes the museum that much more interesting. They say that should take about 3 hours for you to go through the entire museum, which is pretty spot on. However, after 2 and a half hours, one is quite exhausted. This particular Museum focuses on Admiral Nimitz’s journey and commanding of the war. The best part was not seeing all of the various artifacts, including one Katana that is over 1,000 years old found by a US Serviceman, but rather a peace garden that was donated by the people of Japan. Being in the garden reminded me of being in Kyoto and Nagoya – if it weren’t for some of the trucks driving by being a little bit obnoxious.I am not sure really what to say really. Perhaps it is best not to say anything and allow the video and photos to speak for themselves.Note: Requires Quicktime 7 to play.
